Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

I know it has been a while since my last post. This is not due to lack of subjects to blog about or lack of time to blog. Even though I have been working (sometimes all day), I just don't feel like blogging right when I get home from work. I am still teaching, but I don't have my summers off. This is a little hard to get used to. However, I have been taking advantage of the hot and sunny weather when I can. I like the heat. I like the sun. Yes, this may be miserable for some, but I love warm weather more than cold weather.

Now, let me tell you what has been going on lately. A lot has happened since school let out.

We had a Sunday School Crawfish party at our house. Our wonderful teacher Jim, cooked the crawfish for our class. We also had some burgers for the non-crawfish eaters. We enjoyed the food and the company. Before the party, it had been way to long since my last crawfish.

This is Jim with his family. The crawfish were excellent!
We went to watch Auburn in the NCAA Baseball Regional. We went to 2 of their 5 games. Nick's family came as well. It was such a fun weekend to hang out and enjoy baseball. With all the boiled peanuts, hot dogs, and sunflower seeds how can you not enjoy a baseball game? Everything was great, even the weather, until Auburn lost to Clemson in the championship game of the regional.
Nick has been finishing up his softball career for the year. He plays on the church league, and unfortunately they have not had a great season. It is fun to sit with all the wives and watch, but their record is not worth mentioning here. However, they are a good team. Sometimes the other teams just hit a little better. However, they did make it to the playoffs, and they won last night! I'll let you know how they do next week.
Tator came to visit. My brother George, a.k.a. Tator, stayed with us most of last week. He spent a lot of time by the pool, but he also helped me around the house. One day he folded some laundry. Another day I came home, and he was swiffering my kitchen! Everyone needs a Tator.
And of course we've been swimming. You should come join us!
I promise not to be so long on the next post!

School's Out Forever!

Sing along....

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces
.....
Out for summer
Out till fall
We might not go back at all

I've been singing this all week!

For me, all of the above are true (except that school has not been blown to pieces).

School is out! For those of you that don't know, I am not returning to the classroom next year. In my sister's words, 'I'm retiring.' Unlike many of my teaching friends, this is by choice and not by pink slip.

This year was miserable in many ways. I won't go into the details, but I decided it was time to quit. I have found another job. I will be teaching/tutoring at a Sylvan Learning Center here in Montgomery. I have already started tutoring, and I really enjoy it so far. I just have to brush up on my Algebra II and Trigonometry skills. I will also be working there this summer. But don't worry, I'll get off by 12:30. This still allows plenty of afternoon pool time.

Hopefully I will return to the classroom sometime in the future. For now I'm off to celebrate with some type of drinky-drink.

Happy Summer!

You May Now Kiss the Bride

This weekend Nick was in a wedding for one of his best friends from Madison. We had a good weekend with friends and family, except for Nick's stomach bug. He had to miss the rehearsal dinner, but don't worry, I still went! He started feeling better on Saturday, and he was able to enjoy the day with his friends. Here are a few wedding snapshots!

The bride and groom leaving the church (the groom is a fire-fighter).

The wedding party with Mr. and Mrs. Travis Armstrong!

Scott, Jeremy (Nick's brother), Travis the groom, Nick, LD. All these guys were in our wedding too!

Jason and Lauren (Nick's sister), Cindy and Darwin (his parents), Me and Nick, Brynn and Jeremy.

Weddings are always fun, but this weekend also made me think of our wedding. If I could, I would do our wedding week all over again! Monday, May 17th will be our 2nd anniversary!

Sorry for the poor picture quality. Scanner doesn't work to well.

Happy anniversary Nick! I love you!

Two and a Half More Weeks

2 1/2 more weeks of school!

Then I will have my sufficient pool time. Reading time. Rest. Less stress and frustration.

I can have more days like this with Stephen Small and his mom.
Just check out how much this little guy likes the pool.
Come back soon!

DIRT

You can't have a fun Spring meal without some DIRT!

I was making this dessert for our Monday night Bible study. I served it in these plastic cups so everyone could have an individual serving.

I started by laying the cups out in rows. To make the pudding follow the directions on the Jello-chocolate pudding box.
Once the pudding is set, mix it with Cool Whip.
There are no exact measurements. I just continued adding Cool Whip until it tasted like I wanted.

For these 25 cups I used 2 large boxes of Jello-pudding, 1 small box of Jello-pudding, and about 1 1/2 containers of Cool Whip.

You have to make sure your husband (or child) does not eat all the gummy worms before you use them.
So, put them in cups before the worms are all gone.
Fill a bag with Oreos. It took a whole box of these to fill the 25 cups.
Crush the cookies to the consistency you desire.
Top the cups with the crushed Oreos.
And, you have DIRT!
Dig in.

The Pool is Open and Ready for Swimmers

The reason for my lack of blogging is because every sunny minute I get, I've been here.
Laying out.
Reading and listening to the radio.
Enjoying warm weather.
And yes momma and daddy, I've been wearing sun screen.
First swim of the summer!

Nick has worked so hard to open our pool this year. It took a week to fix the leak, fill the pool, balance the chlorine, and get rid of the algae problem. However, it is now good for swimming! We have already been swimming a few times this past weekend, and the water feels great!

Hope you have been able to enjoy the nice spring weather. Next time the sun comes out, stop by for a dip in the pool!
