Celebrating the 4th on the Lake

We spent a wonderful 4th of July at Lake Martin with my sister and her family. We enjoyed quality cousin time, food, boats, and the relaxation that only comes with no phone or Internet service.
Can you tell which is Laurie and which is Millie?

My 4th of July rice crispy treats from Pinterest.
A friendly game of Scrabble. I lost. I mostly used three letter words. Scrabble can be tricky.
Boat riding on the beautiful, but hot, 4th.
Nick skiing. I skied too for the first time in two years. It took me a few tries to get up, but I eventually got going. It still hurts to move my arms.
Millie is scared of riding on the boat. When the boat starts, she holds on tight and won't let got. After a few minutes she relaxes and falls asleep. This happens for every boat ride.
I wanted a cute picture of the girls in their festive red dresses. This is the best I could do.
 Fishing
  Feeding Millie some Cheerios.
Cuteness in one picture.
We went to visit some friends across the lake.
A bed time story. Fireworks were too late for these tiny people.
If you haven't read llama llama red pajama, you need to. It's great. It is about a llama and his llama mama.
The last thing to be eaten on the 4th. An apple pie-by request from Nick. We had a ton, and I mean a ton, of food. This is the only thing I photographed, besides the rice crispies. I was too busy eating.

We spent two nights on the lake. We came home yesterday, and my days are all confused. I keep thinking today is Monday. Then it makes me happy when I realize it is Friday.

The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. When I was younger I spent them at Camp Desoto, and it was always my favorite day of camp. Now I love it because the 4th is usually spent around water (pool or lake), food, family and friends. I love how it is not a gift holiday. No pressure, except what to cook and what not to cook. It's laid back and relaxing. I'm thankful for our country, freedom, and all the men and women who help keep us safe everyday so I can enjoy a fun day.

I hope you had a grand 4th of July!

Happy Friday! Have a good weekend!
