Summer Beginnings

We have been busy with beginning of summer activities. This mostly involves getting the pool and yard ready. I also tutored a lot as the school year was ending. We have mostly been enjoying the sunshine.

These were the fish tacos I mentioned I would be making on our anniversary. I used some frozen mahi-mahi from Costco. I put salt, pepper, and olive oil on the fish before grilling. We topped the fish with homemade pico de gallo, corn, black beans, lettuce, sour cream mixed with a little sriracha sauce (hot sauce), and a lot of cilantro.
We made a small potty-training attempt. I went at it with the attitude of 'if she gets it great, and if she doesn't then oh well, we will try again another time.' It didn't help that I was sick when we tried. I think that is why I gave up. I also think she is too young. However, she is very into changing diapers.
She likes to change her own too (which she can't do). I have found her diaper-less several times attempting to put on a new one.
At least I can reuse these diapers. It's bad when she starts with the wipes.
We have done a little gardening too. I'll show more of our garden in another post.
I don't know the name of this plant. We've had them in the front of our house for 3 years now, and this is their best year yet. Isn't that flower beautiful? The blooms only last about 24 hours. It is also pictured below showing no blooms. If you know the name of this plant, please let me know.
Millie likes to run around our neighbor's yard. So I chased her with my camera one really sunny day.
We have been swimming almost everyday for over a week. Not that you can tell by this picture, but Millie loves the pool.
This video shows her excitement a little better.
When she gets in, she says, "good job Millie," and "Millie swimming" or "I swimming."

We baby sat baby George one morning, and all Millie wanted to hold him the entire time.
I think they like each other.

We had a small gathering for lunch on Memorial Day.
I tried to do a photo shoot waiting on people to come over.
Nick smoked/grilled a lot of chicken. It was delicious.
It was a beautiful day.
We didn't try to make Millie take a nap while people were here, but as soon as everyone was gone, Millie was asleep on the couch within seconds. Morning swimming is going to be our thing this summer.
I have said this before and I'll say it again, but I love summer! Yes it is hot, but that's what I like about it. I may have a different opinion about summer after going through this one pregnant, but for now I'm enjoying the warm sunshine and cool pool water.

5 Years

This was 5 years ago today!
This morning I prayed and thanked God for a husband. Then I stopped and thanked Him for a good husband. There is a difference. I am so thankful to have a God loving, hardworking, dedicated, patient, dish-washing, ironing, diaper changing, the list could go on, type of husband.
leaving the wedding

This was yesterday.
We went to celebrate with lunch at the Marina (a place on the river that has really good fried grouper). We sat outside. It was a beautiful day. Nick has a work lunch today or we would have gone today.
We also went out more than once the week Millie was at my parents.
notice the boat on the left has a slide

We hope to go somewhere fun, like the beach, to celebrate next year. This year we are taking it easy and counting our blessings.
25 weeks (a little cheesy, but I like the documentation)

I bought this dress for our honeymoon. We went to Mexico, and I thought this dress was appropriate. It was a little big when I bought it. This dress is still in good shape, I still like it, and it fits well as a maternity dress. Most of the other dresses I bought around the time I got married don't fit anymore (pregnant or not).
This is me in the dress in Mexico. Photo quality isn't very good on my five year old pictures.
Happy Anniversary Nick! It has been a good five years. I am making fish tacos and margaritas tonight. The margaritas are more for Nick than me, but I may take a sip. Maybe sometime we can go back to Mexico!

I love you!

A Week to Myself

Two weekends ago my parents came to visit. We had a great weekend together (especially since last time they were here everyone got the stomach bug).

An afternoon at the zoo
We also celebrated my nephew's baptism.
When my parents left, they took Millie with them. She stayed in Mississippi from Sunday to Friday. We missed her terribly, but we also enjoyed some time to ourselves.
I spent the first day without Millie cleaning out mine and Millie's closets. It is much easier to get rid of old clothes when you are pregnant. I also ran a bunch of errands, enjoyed lunch with friends, relaxed, and I watched something on TV other than Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. On my list of things to do that week, I completed 5 out of 9. Not too bad in my opinion.
(organizing clothes)

Another great thing about last week was that I didn't have to cook dinner. We picked up dinner on Sunday night, ate at Bible study Monday night, and we went out Tuesday and Thursday night. I did have to cook some BBQ for a church thing Wednesday night, but it was simple since it involved the crock pot. I enjoy cooking, but it was very relaxing not having to plan and prepare dinner all week.
I know Millie had a good time in Mississippi. She has come back saying new phrases and requesting new shows to watch. She also keeps talking about Lovie and Doc.
On Friday we met my mom in Mississippi to get our girl back. We spent the weekend with Nick's family celebrating my niece and nephew's birthdays.

After traveling and being gone from home for so long, it has taken us both a few days to get back in our routines. But I'm back to changing diapers and cooking dinner. I'm glad she is back home. Thanks Lovie and Doc for keeping my Millie. I really needed a week to myself.
