Ham Sandwich

No baby yet! Just trying to survive the hottest week of the year!

In the mean time I want to share a good ham sandwich recipe. I copied it from Ina Garten's Soppressata and Cheese in Puff Pastry recipe from one of her cookbooks.

Later I found this recipe online. Check out the site for exact details.

Brush puff pastry with mustard. I used spicy brown mustard, but you can use whatever mustard you are craving. Leave a one inch boarder to brush on the egg wash. Layer on the ham and cheese.

The recipe called for Gruyere cheese.

I used a cheaper cheese. A few ounces of Gruyere cheese was almost $100. Well maybe it wasn't $100, but it was too much for just a small amount of cheese. There wasn't even enough in the package for my sandwich.

So I chose a Publix brand mix that was fabulous! It was a mixture of mozzarella, provolone, Parmesan, Asiago, and Romano cheese. I think using Swiss cheese would be good too. Put on the other p
uff pastry layer, and make some slits for the steam to get out. Brush with egg wash and trim edges off a little.
Bake at 450 for about 20 minutes.
Enjoy and pray that a baby comes soon!
